Good Stress

This past week flew by so fast that I do not even know what to write! Nothung out of the ordanary. Just work work work. If there is one thing that does come with being a leader, is the time that I thought went by fast, not flys by! Faster than dad on the highway to Utah! I love being able to help other. My companion hit his 1 year mark, he will be going home before he knows it. This is that last week of the cambios so we shall see if we cannot make it a really fun one. I did a little studying on something that passes for the best of all leaders. Dealing with Stress. Even though having a responsibility over more people sounds like it could be fun and fullfilling, it also brings a lot of stress with it. If anyone feels as if they would like a little help on overcoming the world you ought to read the talk!

Miss and love all of you who keep my mind filled with spirit!

It`s a beautiful day.

What an amazingly filled and fantastic week we had! On Monday we got to play dodgeball, Tuesday I gave another great district class, according to my view :), On Wednesday I went and interviewed another girl that got baptized this last weekend. On Thursday it rained a ton! We got all wet and thanks to the guy above we did not get sick. On Friday we had a bunch of meetings about how we can better the ward, the stake, and the baptisms. On Saturday we went to a special conference in Chillan. There we were able to listen to the Elder Dallin H Oaks. It was great, he talked to us about the importance of the Holy Ghost in conversion, about the Sacrament, and about commitments. Then later that day we got to see Priscilla get baptized. On Sunday I gave a sweet talk about how to gain trust in the Lord and in our local lideres. And today, again, we got to play another rad game of paintball. The mission is so awesome.

That is all I've got time for today! Love you all and wish you all health and love!

The Ups and Downs

We had a very good week. A lot of ups and downs, not including all the hills. On Wednesday we had a mini-cambio. Elder Blass, the newby in the mission, stayed in my sector with Elder Stallings, and I went down to be with Elder Louranco in his sector. It was an overall good experience. We were able to find new people to teach, we went on some adventures to visit the futures we have, and the contacts were superb. And we enjoyed ourselves. I did my first baptism interview too. It was a great time. Funny story actually. Her name is Pricilla and she is 17. So there we were, we had to go outside of the house into the backyard where there was nobody and we started there on a bench. Well I had gone over the questions quite a few times before to prepare myself, so I had them down in my head but I still had planned on reading them  from the agenda. Well not soon later after we started I realized that it was too dark to read my agenda. It went well in the end though. I set a few goals with Elder Louranco. To not be trunky, to testify more, and a few more things that ought to help his sector grow. We also talked about Elder Blass. He seems to be doing really well in his 12 weeks. He has a fire under him as he works, and it drives him to be diligent and obedient. I like it.

And as you know we had a big hill to climb as we do almost every week. Elder Stallings had someone is his family pass away so the President came to our house to tell us in person. We were together for about an hour. The president just told us that the best remedy to overcome things like this is to think about the Atonement and to just get back out and work yourself away, lose yourself in the work he said. That day we followed the President right out the door to work as he left. He has taken it pretty well. I see no hinderance in his work. His testimony and desire to serve cannot be broken. He bore his testimony this past Sunday. He was a little teary, but he has definately taken the afflictions and they have made him stronger. He is a good missionary.

Thanks for all you do family. I absolutely loved the package, and so did everyone else in my hosue haha!  This is looking to be a really good week, filled with a lot of work and a lot of revelation.

Talk to you soon!

Easter Weekend

Dear Family and Friends,

A wonderfully filled week, including revelation from the Prophets, spiritual lessons about the Easter weekend, and an overall spirit of giving and remembering the Lord. What a great way to start the month! The whole week building up the the weekend we shared messages to everyone about the #GraciasaqueElvive initiative we have. On Friday we held the Easter Music and Spoken word that the little ward does every year. A choir comes, we hear some scripture, the Mission President came and gave a little 5 minute speech, and we finished the night with refreshments! It was great! And then after that Friday came the glorious conference talks!  In the conference, many things called my attention. Marriage and sealings, which goes to show that we need always remember our goal for the people is the temple. I guess I have to get married the moment I come back from the mission.

I must say in all of the conference, the talks, the lessons, there were two things that really hit me hard. The first is a phrase from Uchtdorf: Salvation cannot be bought with obedience, but by the blood of the Savior. Sometimes we think that if we are doing what is right, being obedient, we will be saved. That is a half truth lie. We all must be saved through Christ there is no other way. And secondly, something that means a great deal to me since my Dad did such a great job. The most important priesthood duty a man will ever have is to be a father. It is something we must strive for all the time, even if we have not become fathers yet. Overall, it was a great conference and a wonderful easter weekend. Missed being at home with the family, but at least I know that the next Easter I will be!

Love you all very much, you are all the best ever!

a letter from the Mission President

April 3, 2015

Elder Jacob Siaosi
Penco Zone

Dear Elder Siaosi,

The decision to extend a call to you to serve as District Leader in the Zone of Linares was made after careful and prayerful consideration.  We commend you for your faithfulness, your worthiness and desire to serve our Father in Heaven.

As you are well aware, leadership carries with it great responsibility. To be really effective as a leader, you must first strive to be a perfect example of obedience and righteousness. We encourage you to keep the commandments and live the mission rules with exactness and expect no less from those you lead.

As a District Leader, you should:

·         Set an example for the missionaries in your district in your study of the scriptures and
the gospel, obedience, hard work, proselyting skills, and other aspects of missionary work.
·         Carry a full proselyting load in your assigned sector and commit to baptize regularly.
·         Supervise, teach, and inspire the missionaries during district meetings and companion exchanges.
·         Interview baptismal candidates.
·         Look after the well-being of missionaries in your district, especially the sisters.
·         Make sure relationships between elders and sisters are in harmony with gospel  teachings and missionary standards.
·         Demonstrate effective planning.
·         Work with local priesthood leaders and members.
·         Follow up with the missionaries on referrals.
·         Submit reports accurately and promptly.

We encourage you to prayerfully consider the Lord’s counsel on leadership found in
D&C 121:34-46.  As the Savior's example and teachings make clear, to lead is to serve, and our love for God and our fellow men must motivate our every action. As a leader, you will require the help of the Holy Spirit to maintain high standards and at the same time be meek and humble.

We love you and know that the Lord loves you.  Through your faithful service in this calling you can demonstrate your love and devotion to the Lord. We pray for the Lord’s blessings to be with you as you serve in this sacred calling.

                                                                           Sincerely,

                                                                            Kent J. Arrington
